Many of the SANORD member countries are on the list of countries whose citizens need a visa to enter Denmark.
A few conditions must be met in order to qualify for a Schengen visa, including that the applicant has a passport or other form of valid travel document which is valid for three months past the visa expiration date. In addition, the passport must have been issued within the past 10 years. You must also take out a travel insurance policy which covers all Schengen countries and has a minimum policy coverage of EUR 30,000.
Symposium participants requiring a visa shouldd apply for a Schengen visa for a business visit through a Danish diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate general) in their home country.
In countries where there is no Danish diplomatic mission, or where the Danish diplomatic mission has no visa division, such as in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Botswana, Denmark has a representation agreement with another Schengen country whose diplomatic mission processes visa applications for Denmark.
The processing time for a visa varies depending on the country. Therefore it is advisable that the visa application process be initiated as early as possible. We advise you to contact your local authorities for more informatin on the actual time required to process a visa application. We recommend that you do not buy a plane ticket before receiving your visa.
For the application, in addition to the other required documentation, you will also need an invitation letter from Aarhus University. Aarhus University will be happy to provide you with an invitation letter. Please contact your Local Symposium Coordinator for further information.
